Dic Golf In Penn Valley California
Western Gateway Park, Penn ValleyAs a beginner disc golfer and the fact I live in Penn Valley I’ve been spending my last couple of month’s everyday at the Hanging Oaks Disc Golf Course. I find this course to be fun and perfect for my learning curve. Hanging Oaks was established in 1997 as Western Nevada County’s second disc golf course. Hanging is located next to the Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley. Being next to the park makes it easy to bring a few people with you who don’t play the game and they still have a kid’s playground, a softball park and walking trails to enjoy while you play. It’s a park for everyone in the family. Most of the local disc golfers make this their preferred course.
I have been on the course and met people form Las Vegas, New York, and a few other locations. After talking to them I usually say that they heard about the course from a friend and needed to play it.Upon my first few attempts to play Hanging Oaks I lost 3 discs. One of the discs was mine and the others my buddies. The large oak trees make it easy to lose a disc or two up in the high branches. I suggest taking a plastic water bottle to knock the disc down. Some of the other hazards on the course include a large island with a wide water hazard around it. I have not seen water in the creek just yet but as the rain starts to fall I look forward to playing the course with water. The other challenge I have ran into on this course is the baskets being moved around quite often. Sometimes a couple days a week they are out there moving the baskets around. It makes the course fun a new every time. Hanging Oaks Disc Course is a fun and enjoyable course. It is loaded with lots of large and small trees.
Many players are on the course at all hours of the day. The course closes at dusk. If you’re an experienced or a new disc golfer I recommended playing Hanging Oaks. Golfers are strongly encouraged to respectfully share the course area with equestrians and pedestrians alike.
